AT&T AccessAll is the nation's largest program designed to provide in-home
Internet and technology access, benefiting 50,000 low-income families across the
country through a unique collaboration with One Economy Corporation, Habitat for
Humanity affiliates and other low-income housing providers. For the first time,
many Habitat children have been able to do their homework at home! Some homeowners
are planning on filing their taxes online, for free, through the www.thebeehive.org,
saving hundreds of dollars on tax preparation fees. In order for your affiliate
to participate in the program, you must build within the AT&T service area. (Service
area map is available at: http://www.puc.state.oh.us/pucogis/newcntymaps/TELCNTY.HTML.)
A signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from your affiliate is due by May
15, 2008. Please take advantage of this program by contacting Lindsay
Miller at 614-364-7011 or lmiller@habitat-columbus.org.
Also visit the following websites for more information about the program:
www.beehive.org or www.one-economy.com.
The HFHI Lumber Program Grant is here! As part of the agreement,
settling a trade dispute between the Canadian and U.S. governments, Habitat for
Humanity was selected to receive $100 million for low-income housing and disaster
relief within the United States. Of these funds, approximately 50 percent are
to be used in timber-reliant areas, and 20 percent are to be used for disaster
recovery. However, any U.S. affiliate may request reimbursement for qualifying
lumber purchases made after August 15, 2007. As the program progresses,
applications may be restricted to timber-reliant and disaster recovery areas to
make sure funding is allocated by these percentages. Beginning August 15, save
and track receipts for all qualifying lumber purchases. Invoices dated prior to
August 15, 2007 cannot reimbursed. Applications are available at PartnerNet Beta
by clicking the Funding & Support tab, then going to US Grants. If you are
not able to access the document please contact our office and we will email it
to you.
